The story of a different kind of high-precision machining shop
To know Kent Machine, you have to know our roots.
Back in 1980, our founder Harold Kennedy was working for Chrysler and saw a gap in the American manufacturing market: no one was providing the type high-quality machining service, competitive prices, or turnaround times needed. So he started Kent Machine, Inc. (“Kent” is short for “Kennedy Tool.”) to better serve the automotive industry.
In the early 2000s, when our competitors started moving overseas for cheaper labor, Kent chose a different path—investing in the niche market of precision fixtures and gauges. Rather than chasing low-cost production, we focused on quality, creating a reputation for delivering what offshore suppliers couldn’t: accuracy, reliability, and responsiveness.
In the years since, we have worked hard to get better and better. We train up our workforce to maintain an unbeatable level of craftsmanship from prototype to delivery. We streamline our operations so we can offer quick turnaround time, every-time.
The future looks even brighter. In 2024, Kent was acquired by a new ownership group, led by Michael Jackson. This will empower us to offer a more diverse array of manufacturing services while maintaining the quality—and the service—our partners have come to rely on.
